Earth Green

Bare feet on the ground. Toes gripping the dirt. Its energy runs through my soul.

Each visit into nature brings me closer to God.

For He is in the skies

And in the Earth

And with each visit I ask Him, what is the lesson I must learn.

And each time I ask, the answer is the same.

You are enough,

Earth Green.

Your purpose is to be who I’ve made you to be.

He reminds me that

Waterfalls don’t try to stand still. Their job is to keep life moving.

It doesn’t try to quiet itself.

Trees don’t try to fly. They don’t ask why they don’t have wings.

They know they provide shade for the creatures that roam.

Buttes are not ashamed for standing out.

They are grateful to still be standing at all.

Lightening doesn’t try to thunder. Its job is to be seen and felt.

Not heard.

The sun has no business trying to provide darkness.

It knows its job is to spread light.

I don’t need to pretend to know more than I do.

My questions are meant to be asked. I’m not the only one who seeks answers.

I shall not fear the making of choices. Decisions don’t come easy to me.

My mind was made to see fully each road that can be taken.

I’m not to hide the need to spend quiet time alone.

The energy that fills my banks does not come from out there,

I accept that it comes from in here.

If I’m to hear from God, I must quiet the noise.

My empathy is high. Forgiveness runs though me like a river in the season of spring.

My role is to feel each room I walk into.

I need not be ashamed of the pain that I’ve been through.

An alchemist’s job is to turn metals into gold,

And pain into power.

We may feel like the mountains are too high.

Or the plains are too plain.

We may feel like the trees are too dense.

Or the rain’s here to ruin our day.

We may feel like the sun is too hot.

And that the waters are too cold.

But the Earth will move through the seasons,

Never even asking us.

Because those who are called to the peaks of the mountains,

Will find a way to see the view.

Others may feel like I’m too shy.

Or my bags are too heavy.

Others may think I’m too sensitive.

Or that I’m to be more decisive.

My curious mind may be too much.

Or my words not enough.

But I will move through the seasons, never even asking.

I just pray one day I’ll stop wondering

Because those who are called to walk beside me,

Can appreciate the view.

Without the rain and snow, the trees and flowers could not grow.

Without the mountains, snow would not travel.

Without the river, the water could not flow.

We don’t ask different from nature,

We are simply in awe.

I’m not to ask different of myself.

I will simply admire,

Who I am and who He’s called me to be.

  1. Wonderful perspective Loren! I love nature and your expressions of His creation. Confirms what the Lord let me know years ago that “By the grace of God, I am what I am, and His grace which He bestowed upon me was not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:10
